Smart Airport Construction - The First Domestic Apron Unmanned Luggage Cart Tractors Settled in Urumqi International Airport -

In order to accelerate the construction of the ‘four-type airport’ smart route of Urumqi International Airport and promote the high-quality development of luggage and cargo transportation, the ground handling department of Urumqi Airport Branch has continuously improved the degree of professional management and introduced the unmanned luggage tractor project. After more than half a year of commissioning and more than 1,000 trial runs, the test was completed today and officially unmanned operation, setting a precedent for the normal application of unmanned baggage tractors in domestic airport aprons.

In early 2021, the project test team completed the update and technical verification of the sensor layout design of the unmanned luggage tractor based on the actual situation of Urumqi International Airport.

The test team completed the development of key functions and passed the verification test in June 2021. The ground service department simultaneously carried out the training of drone driving safety officers and issued the license for the unmanned luggage tractor.

 

The test team deployed a cloud monitoring platform to continuously collect usage feedback and improve operational efficiency as much as possible. In the case of ensuring safety, the operating efficiency should be improved as much as possible. In the trial operation with cargo test, the unmanned baggage tractor has operated for 431 hours in total, with a guaranteed course of 5257.6 kilometers, and a total of 2,544 buckets of cargo, which reached the test standard.

The unmanned luggage tractor was officially put into use, which improved the efficiency of cargo and mail operations, optimized the operation process, reduced the work intensity of employees, reduced the frequency of contact between personnel and goods, and effectively improved the safety of cargo and mail transportation at Urumqi International Airport. They provided round-the-clock efficient transportation, technological innovation assistant, traditional industry wisdom upgrade, and contribution technological strength.
